The meeting came to order at 7:00PM. Those present were : Gail Carnes representing Downey School, Roger Zessis representing "out of district," and Michelle Fiola-Reidy repesenting Martha Jones School. Pam Spiegel, Chairperson of SEPAC, presided over the meeting. All signed in and the minutes were recorded by Pam Spiegel.
The meeting began by defining SEPAC liaisons as the conduits between their schools and the PAC organization. The commitment is for one year. Strategies for liaisons include:
- promoting collaborative projects between schools and parents
- surveying general topics of interest from parents of schools
- distributing PAC announcements from the Executive Committee
- working with the Membership Coordinator, Tania Rooney, to distribute
membership forms
- submitting announcements to school newsletters
- appearing at "Curriculum Night"
Liaisons will form a committee headed by a coordinator and "co-coordinator." Gail Carnes volunteered to be "co-coordinator" and the Executive Committee is waiting on confirmation of a Coordinator. The responsibilities of both coordinators
are:
- to plan and preside over any meeting held
- to represent the group
- to supervise and direct any action taken by liasons
- to report to the Executive Committee via agenda and minutes
- to set an agenda for any meeting held
- to keep the liason roster up to date for the website
- to decide what needs to be done, by whom, and by what date
Suggested projects included the design of a SEPAC brochure and arranging for a newspaper article for visibility.
A liaison list was passed out, the next general SEPAC meeting for 5/2/07 was announced, and it was requested that all resource material being passed on to the Website Committee be held until further notice.
The meeting was adjourned at 8:00PM.
